Wayne Henderson's top-notch finger-picking has dazzled audiences
from Carnegie Hall to Hong Kong,
and in 1995 earned him a National Heritage Award
from the National Endowment for the Arts. He builds about 20 guitars
and mandolins each year. Doc Watson, a good friend who sometimes stops
at Wayne's shop in Rugby, VA, to pick a few tunes, and who owns a Henderson
mandolin, said "That Henderson mandolin is as good as any I've had my
hands on. And that's saying a lot, because I've picked up some good
ones."
Above and beyond his great talents as a musician and luthier, Wayne
Henderson is known as a "friend to everyone" and shares his talents
and knowledge unselfishly.

We regret that Robin will not be appearing tonight because
of a family emergency. Wayne will be performing alone. Refunds will
be issued to advance ticket holders who request it.
Since first gaining national attention by winning the 1985 National
Flatpicking Championship in Winfield Kansas,
Robin Kessinger has become internationally
respected through his performances, recordings, and teaching workshops.
Coming from a family of famous musicians including his uncle, the legendary
Clark Kessinger, he is known in his own right for his outstanding and
varied repertoire. Dan Miller (editor of Flatpick Guitar magazine) wrote,
"This is a man who is incredibly versatile. He enjoys flatpicking a
wide variety of musical styles and does all of it very well."
