THE
BALKAN BROTHERS TAKE DC! Seido Salifoski & Ismail
Butera bring their exciting new musical project to Washington,
DC, with "hands-on" afternoon classes and an exciting
evening performance.
•Beginning Dumbek Technique (11am-12pm)
- Kazuki will be teaching an "Intro to Seidoism" class
which breaks down Seido’s technique for Beginners. $15/advance,
$20/at the door
•Intermediate/Advanced Dumbek with Seido
Salifoski (12pm-3pm) - This class will focus! on more difficult
Balkan & Turkish technique & rhythms. It is for more
intermediate & advanced drummers only. During the last hour
of class, Seido will be joined by Ismail and he will teach how
to work with an instrumentalist in the Balkan tradition. $40/advance,
$50/at the door (Students registering for this class are
encouraged to take the Beginner class as well, and can take
it free of charge when they pay for the advanced class).
•Intermediate/Advanced Accordion with Ismail Butera
(12pm-2pm) – Ismail will cover scales, modes & soloing.
$30/advance, $40/at the door

CONCERT: 7:30pm
Join us for an evening of Balkan, Romany (Gypsy) & Near
Eastern folk music, storytelling, song & dance! "With
Silk Road melodies & fiery Balkan rhythms, traditional songs
& experimental improvisation, the Balkan Brothers transport
audiences to imaginary magical places as they unravel the mysteries
of ancient modes & rhythm cycles and explore archaic themes."
