With 20 years
solidly under their belts, this band of nonconformist pan-Celtic
musicians insist on combining the tunes and songs of all the Celtic
cultures: yes -- Asturies, Cajun, Appalachia, Mann – all of them! And
they do it with such energy and humor, it’s easy to get up and dance
and sing along and party with them as they perform.
To celebrate this august anniversary, Barbara
Tresidder Ryan (lead vocals, stringy things, percussion), Bernard
Argent (flute, whistles, percussion), Chuck Lawhorn
(bass guitars, vocals) and Scottish champion fiddler Andrew
Dodds are releasing a double album, A Celebration of 20,
featuring a compilation of digitally remastered past faves and a disc
of entirely “new” trad arrangements. World travelers and well known
Washington D.C. Celtic event producers, IONA brings the music and dance
of Celts worldwide to IMT with great pleasure! According to Steve
Winick of Dirty Linen magazine, IONA plays ...”the best Celtic music
America has to offer”.
