Consisting of two brothers and a sister who grew up playing
music together, add to the mix two very eclectic musicians from
Montreal, and you have a truly Canadian Celtic fusion band!
Featuring siblings Jeremiah (woodwind virtuoso), double bassist
Solon McDade and their sister, fiddler Shannon Johnson, the
band also boasts guitarist Yann Falquet and percussionist François
Taillefer. If you can conceive of a musical dimension somewhere
between modern Celtic, traditional French Canadian and jazz,
you begin to understand The McDades. Drawing on traditional
Celtic music from many of the Celtic nations, The McDades mix
and match rhythms in mind-boggling combinations. Their vocal
harmonies could only have evolved from a family band that obviously
loves one another and their music. The McDades are clearly stars
in the ascendant.
