Wow!
Appalachian-Nepalese bluegrass? Danny Knicely, a
fourth generation Appalachian multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, guitar
and fiddle) from a Virginia family steeped in mountain music tradition,
has used his roots in old-time and bluegrass to explore many musical
styles from Irish, jazz and Latin, to the various musical styles he
encountered while performing and studying music in India, Nepal, Tibet,
and China. He has won many awards for both his mandolin and guitar
expertise, and has had years of experience as a professional musician
performing in many diverse bands with whom he has recorded and toured
nationally and internationally. Ralph Gordon on bass,
Zan McLeod, guitar and bouzouki, Matthew
Olwell on percussion and dance, fiddler Nate Leath and
Footworks dancers join Danny at tonight’s concert.
