Winners of 11 WAMMIES, this outstanding "Alternative Klezmer" band is: Seth Kibel on clarinet, flute and saxophones, Helen Hausmann, violin and mandolin, Scott Harlan, bass guitars and upright bass, and Tim Jarvis, drums and percussion. On the faculty of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC, founder Kibel lectures frequently for the Peabody Conservatory Elderhostel in Baltimore. His fellow WAMMIE recipient, Hausmann, is currently a member of the Arlington Philharmonic and plays in The Big Sky, an alt-country roots rock band in DC, while Harlan has performed in practically every genre imaginable, most notably the band of phenomenal singer/songwriter Angela Aki (now on Sony Records, Japan) and with his own jazz-fusion trio, The Scott Harlan Group. During his more than 30-year professional career, Jarvis has done everything from circus band music to country blues to show bands. In other words this combo of incredible professionals is a must see/hear for all true ethnic music buffs!
