Since forming in 1990, the Old Blind Dogs have stood on the cutting
edge of Scotland's roots revival. The band has developed its own trademark
style in which dynamic percussion and bluesy harmonica (Link to lost image removed) fuel
the delicately-phrased melodies of traditional songs. The energetic
mix of songs and tunes with polished vocals, soaring fiddle playing
and stirring pipes are punctuated with the pulse from djembe and conga.
Old Blind Dogs' roots are in Aberdeenshire on Scotland's northeast coast,
an area steeped in traditional songs and fiddle tunes. Taking their
name from an Old-Time American song, they have released eight albums
and toured around the globe. The band is founder Jonny Hardie (fiddle,
guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, backing vocals), Jim Malcolm (guitar, lead
vocals, harmonica), Rory Campbell Rory Campbell (whistle, border pipes,
backing vocals), Fraser Stone (percussion) and Aaron Jones (bouzouki,
guitar, electric bass, vocals).
