- The House of Musical Traditions:
- HMT specializes in instruments from the U.S. and around the world. In addition to their collection of exotic, unusual, and vintage instruments, they also feature fun folk instruments for music lovers of all ages and abilities. They have instructional and song books, music magazines, and recordings of traditional music from around the country and the world. They also coordinate music instructors and host music workshops.
- Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eirean (O'Neill-Malcom Branch:
- The largest, single, non-profit group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music and culture. The O’Neill Malcom Branch presents concerts, dances, summer music and dance schools and the Musical Arts and Dance week school.
- Mary Cliff's Traditions:
- Mary hosts two radio shows and publishes lists of upcoming folk music events on her website. Check the website for show information.
- Focus Music:
- Focus presents concerts in Rockville, Alexandria and Mount Vernon.
- Folklore Society of Greater Washington:
- FSGW presents concerts and dances, and special weekend gatherings. They also publish a comprehensive monthly newsletter listing events in the Washington area (available in print and online).
- The Greater Washington Ceili Club:
- GWCC hosts monthly ceili dances with live music and sponsors a year-round program of dance instruction.
- Sunspot Concerts:
- Sunspot presents occasional concerts of traditional music in Alexandria, Virginia.
- Takoma Park Open Mic:
- Open mic at Capital City Cheesecake every Sunday night at 6:00 pm. To get a performance slot, get there at 5:30 to put your name on the list.
