Shalshelet is a fresh new Jewish folk ensemble centered in the
DC area that has been wowinglocalaudiences since their concert debut
in November of 2002. The group features original
compositions
by Cantor Terry Horowit and the group's founder and arranger, accordion
and whistle virtuoso Wendy Morrison, with Marcia Bronstein on piano,
Richard Seidel on cello and bass, and multi-talented clarinetist David
Julian Gray on instruments too numerous to mention. Shalshelet specializes
in graceful arrangements of new Jewish liturgical and inspirational
music in Hebrew and English, rounding out their repertoire with traditional
Yiddish music and other instrumental music from folk cultures around
the world.

Klezcentricity was born when seminal klezmer revivalist David Julian
Gray met Washington's pre-eminent klezmer accordionist Wendy Morrison.
Before hardly a word was spoken, David and Wendy embarked on the exploration
of revitalizing this vibrant tradition, that must be called klezcentric.
Their interpretation is centered on their scholars' knowledge of Yiddish
music, but informed by David's rock 'n roll heart, Wendy's dynamic ear
for tradition and bassist Richard Seidel's unerring ear and rock solid
rhythm. The common love, knowledge and respect for klezmer, with the
tensions of their competing instincts have produced in Klezcentricity
one of the most exciting and creative klezmer ensembles working today.
