Wayne Henderson embodies the musical heritage of the Blue Ridge. A lifelong
resident of Rugby, VA, Wayne took up the guitar at the age of 5 and
made his first attempts at building instruments at 10. By his teens
Wayne was winning ribbons at all of the regions guitar contests
and building guitars and mandolins that are prized by musicians and
collectors around the world. In 1995 he was honored with a National
Heritage Fellowship, and recognized as a living national treasure. While
almost every guitarist who performs lightning-fast fiddle tunes does
so with a flatpick, Wayne invented his own "pinch pickin"
style, and uses fingerpicks to give him his unique rhythmic approach
and an immediately identifiable sound. Wayne will be joined by mandolin
virtuoso Randy Greer. If youve been bitten by the "O Brother"
Bug, this is one concert you cant afford to miss.
