Tonight is a mix of genres and medias and a celebration of John Fahey's birthday to boot.
Join us as Bob Boilen (author, host and creator of NPR's All Songs Considered and their Tiny Desk Concerts) discusses and signs his book "Your Song Changed My Life: From Jimmy Page to St. Vincent, Smokey Robinson to Hozier, Thirty-Five Beloved Artists on Their Journey and the Music That Inspired It".
"Bob Boilen’s book gets at something real and rare about the power of music." -New York Times Book Review
In addition we have a performance from Daniel Bachman, who has not only performed one of Bob's "Tiny Desk Concerts", but who brings us music in the style of John Fahey, who'd be celebrating his birthday the day after the show.
"For an early-twentysomething, Daniel Bachman has roots buried deep. His approach to the American Primitive style of acoustic guitar — a sonically vivid fingerpicking technique developed by John Fahey and expanded by the likes of Robbie Basho and, later, Jack Rose and Glenn Jones — is conversational and uplifting, much like the man himself." -LARS GOTRICH

After a rousing performance of "Honeysuckle Reel" from a forthcoming seven-inch single, however, Bachman turned beet-red in the NPR Music office and said, "I'm not going to lie. I'm pretty nervous."
