Lilt w vocalist Eileen Estes and special guest dancer Agi Kovacs

Sat Feb 26th, 2022 @ 7.30PM

Tonal Park, 7014-C Westmoreland Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912

lilt noun  \ˈlilt\  1: a spirited and usually cheerful song or tune   2: a rhythmical swing, flow, or cadence   3: a springy buoyant movement.

“Lilt” -- a duo consisting of Tina Eck on flute and whistle and Keith Carr on bouzouki and banjo -- are trying to impersonate all of the aforementioned definitions of their name with their music.

They play the traditional dance music from Ireland:  jigs and reels, polkas and hornpipes, the occasional slow air or vocal number.  Lilt loves and tries to capture the essentials of Irish traditional music:  boundless energy, wildness and melancholy.

More about Lilt at

Tonight Lilt will be joined by vocalist Eileen Estes : Irish-American musician and singer Eileen Estes is a full-time musician based in Chicago. Whether performing at home, virtually, or touring, Estes has thrilled audiences for years with her extraordinary voice, which effortlessly combines vocal power with subtle emotional expressiveness. She also works as a composer, studio musician, and a vocal coach. Eileen is a former faculty member at Blue Ridge Irish Music School, and today she traveles to teach Master Classes and is an instructor for the Irish Music School of Chicago as well as her private studio, Lark Song Studios.

As above, Institute of Musical Traditions is pleased to assist in sponsoring “ALL WIGGED OUT: THE MUSICAL” starring Marcy Marxer. Mainstays of the roots music scene in the greater Washington area, mentors to generations of musicians, and heroines in family music, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer have continuously created music and events that serve the community. This production is a service to anyone going through cancer, their healthcare team, loved ones and community.
IMT is helping raise $100,000 to help cover the costs of a high end film production of the musical - a pivot from the live performances originally planned before the pandemic closed theaters. All donations are fully tax-deductible either via GoFundMe or via check made directly to IMT with “ALL WIGGED OUT” in the memo section.
