Beginning Tuesday September 7th – join us for THE SPRING open mic at Sandy Spring Museum!
Institute of Musical Traditions presents THE SPRING Open Mic at Sandy Spring Museum, hosted by rob Hinkal and Rowan Corbett! Join us for a weekly celebration of one of the SOURCES of creativity and performance for any local scene, a new open mic night! Every Tuesday night we invite beginners and pros and everyone in between to come share their talents in the courtyard of the beautiful Sandy Spring Museum – or just come listen! Performances will be from 7-9:30pm with a featured artist tucked somewhere in the middle. We’ll be webcasting the night to Facebook, YouTube and Twitch if you can’t be there in person (and to spread your talents to the world)! A suggested donation of $10 goes to defray the costs of the event and can be paid at the museum, or when you register at [link’s on it’s way soon]. Pay what you can – ALL ARE WELCOME.
2 pieces / 10 minutes whichever’s shorter – family-friendly content (this ain’t censorship, this is respecting our host, the Sandy Spring Museum!) – PA provided – we’ll also provide mic covers and wipe down gear regularly, but you are welcome to BYOMic! – because we’ll be webcasting, you MUST hold the copyright to any pre-recorded material! – hosts rob Hinkal (rob’s Open Mics, ilyAIMY) and Rowan Corbett (ilyAIMY, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Tinsmith) have kept their open mic community running for the last year and a half VIRTUALLY and are very excited to partner with Institute of Musical Traditions and Sandy Spring Museum to step back into the “real world” – but plan to do so cautiously!
The Spring will be held OUTDOORS unless weather makes this impossible and pre-registration at : sandyspringmuseum.org is REQUIRED. In the event of weather-related changes, attendance will be LIMITED to the first 25 registrants and any local COVID restrictions will be in force. Any changes in program due to weather or COVID-related restrictions will be publicized on our website and social media channels (links) by at least 1pm day-of as well as emailed to all registrants.
Food and drink are NOT available for sale at the museum, however you’re welcome to bring dinner and snacks and there’s plenty of local restaurants! Call in an order and bring it with you! BYOB is acceptable, but smoking on the grounds is NOT. Thank you for your cooperation.
